Description

Andy Jones performed a collection of his monologues that had been written with other actors in the creation of various collective comedy shows. This included Jones delivering monologues as several characters from CODCO sketches, such Ricardo Iluerta, Uncle Val, Father Dinn, and Rev. P. Percival Freep. Characters from the Sheila’s Brush troop also appeared, including the Senator—who was first seen in A Midsummer’s Nightmare—and Jack—a character based on a traditional Newfoundland story that Sheila’s Brush had performed as JAXXMAS. The version of Jack performed in this collection was based on a telling by Pius Power of South East Blight, Placentia Bay that had been recorded for Nfld. School Broadcasts. The show also featured some new material Jones wrote with the help of Charlie Tomlinson. The program notes by Jones state that this production was “the first step in a process intended to result in the creation of a one-man show entitled ‘Death of a Small Town Comedian.’”
